VAI Nepal provide an amazing trip through a volunteering and Annapurna Base Camp trekking combination itinerary so you can enjoy the best of Nepal’s natural wonders and contribute to any one of a number of local causes.
The Annapurna Sanctuary Region
The Annapurna Region, classified as a massif, is home to thirteen mountain peaks that measure over 7,000 meters. The Annapurna circuit trek, for a long time the most popular loop trek for those not heading to Everest, has recently been updated with roads that cover parts of the trail. We have prefer to offer a shorter trek (8-10 days) to the Annapurna Base Camp, stretching North from Pokhara on a trail that is not included in the circuit trek. We recommend combining this up and back with a side loop to Ghorepani (Ghode Pani) and to create a widely varied trip through tropical forests, across rivers and finally to the dramatic Annapurna and Machhapuchhare Base Camps. Tea houses and hostels dot this trail every hour or so, making it easy to go at your pace. Our expert guides can provide as much background information on the area as you can take!
The sample itineraries we have below include travel and rest days; they are based on a 4 week total time commitment in Nepal. This should allow you to stay under the 30 day visa limit while still checking all sorts of boxes on your trip. We can easily quote you for custom trekking and volunteering itineraries, or work it out when you arrive! Most volunteer programs are ongoing and can begin at your convenience. We can schedule the trekking portion with our network of guides per the timing of your volunteer program. There are the childcare volunteer and women’s empowerment volunteer programs local to Pokhara.
Also keep in mind some more experience trekkers may complete the trip in a shorter period of time, in as little as 6 days, which may allow for other activities local to Pokhara. We will work with you on all the potential options to make your time spent efficiently.
